About

Welcome to Mrs. P's Potions!

My name is Bree, otherwise known as Mrs. P.  I am a one-woman nail lacquer "factory".  Factory in this instance means a corner of my house filled with glitter, sparkles, and bottles LOL.

My love of indies and indie polish started a few years back.  Through following a few favourite brands and reading nail blogs I ventured into frankening and mxing nail polishes myself just for fun.  I worked full-time in an office at the time and my job was seriously lacking a creative outlet.  I've always been a very creative person always scrapbooking and making cards etc.  As the years went on and having done the office thing since I was 20 it was getting mundane.  I felt as though I was missing out on my family and watching my son grow up.  I longed to be there for him, raise him, and watch every little nuance as he grew.  However, I felt like all I did was drop him off at daycare, got to work, pick him up from daycare, make supper, put my son to bed, and shortly after my hubby and I would head to bed only to start the same routine over and over and over again.  Making nail polishes, painting my nails, and wearing my creations was my way to get my me-time (especially girly time being in a house of all boys) and break up the every day routine.  Getting comments on my nails and having people marvel at them while I was paying for groceries or other things and doing the everyday routine brought me great joy and put a smile on my face.

Just before my son turned two I got pregnant and my entire mindset changed.  I was very aware that I was going to now be a mom of two children and have even less time for myself and the thought of child care expenses for two children gave me nightmares!  Plus I wanted to do it "right" with the second child.  Not that we did anything wrong with our first son but as I said, I felt like daycare did all the work and I didn't have enough of a hand in raising him and teaching him.  Through many discussions with my hubby during my pregnancy and maternity leave we decided I would become a stay-at-home-mom and see if we could turn my hobby of frankening into a home-based business.  The idea was to bring in a little extra income outside of my husband's, give me something of my very own to do outside of being a wife and mother, and first and foremost, always be able to be there for my family, especially the children.  Thus Mrs. P's Potions was created!

Mrs. P's Potions was launched in 2013 (originally as Mrs. P's Nail Potions on etsy) and I am constantly working on the brand and products, promoting them and growing the business.  I feel very accomplished and proud of what I've already acheived in a short amount of time, yet it doesn't even feel like work most times because I love what I do!  I've been able to be there and be witness to every single day of my children's lives since I quit the office and haven't missed a thing!  I am ALWAYS there for my children no matter what they need or when they need it.  I can schedule everything around our family and the family comes first no matter what!  Plus my husband and I get tons of incredible quality time together now  which has made our relationship and marriage that much stronger.

As you can probably tell from reading all of this, I am extremely passionate about what I do.  I do it because I love it and because it allows me to be with my family.  My husband and children are everything to me and I have my "job" to thank for being able to be there with them every step of the way.

Each of the nail lacquers you see listed on the site are all created by me and me alone.  Many of the lacquers are inspried by my favourite things, personal tastes, and things from my childhood.  Each lacquer is very much an extension of my heart and personality and is very personal for some reason or another.  Because of this, many of Mrs. P's Potions are extremely unique and like nothing else on the indie polish scene.

All of my nail lacquers are made in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, hand-mixed and poured, "Big 5 Free" - meaning free of formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde resin, and camphor, made using high quality mica/pigments, and glitter, and NEVER tested on animals.

Custom lacquers can also be created for your special occasions (wedding, grad, birthday, etc.) or just because!

Mini (5 mL) bottles are also available upon request for most lacquers seen on the site. Contact me to request any minis. Minis will be sold at $5.00 CAD each.

Be sure to check out my Facebook page and "like" it to stay up to date with all things new and exciting.

If you are local to Edmonton and area, feel free to contact me to come by my little retail space set up in my home.

Thank you for your interest and support in my brand,
